If you ever wanted to Backup or Restore a particular game or application settings on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, below is an application that will help you do just that. iPhone Explorer does this FREE and without having to Jailbreak your iDevice.

Below is a small video that will show you step by step how to do this and also below are the links to Macroplant which is the company that makes iPhone Explorer. They also make other applications for your iDevices.

The application works on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7. There is also a version for Mac OS X. One small requirement for the whole thing to work correctly is that you must have iTunes already installed.

Since the release of Limera1n from Geohot to jailbreak your iphone running 4.1. Greenpois0n from the Chronic Dev team has been released. The Greenpois0n program uses the same exploit Limera1n is using. The Chronic dev team has shelved the SHAtter exploit originally planned to be released, they have saved it for future use.

The advantage of Greenpois0n is that it is available for Windows, and linux. Below are the links to the download and their website.

The Chronic dev team also announced that apple TV jailbreak is coming as well as the greenpois0n version for the Mac.

Today the iPhone Dev Team released new information that will be a blessing to the ears of all iphone users especially the ones that have the iphone unlocked. A new version of Quickpwn will be available to jailbreak the iphone as well as a new version of Yellowsn0w named Ultrasn0w which will allow you to unlock the iphone once it is upgraded to version 3.0.

This will all be released by Friday June 19 2009 which coincidently is the day the iphone 3Gs is being released. For you guys that want to upgrade to version 3.0 you will be able to jailbreak it  and unlock it. According to the information the unlocking will only work on 3G iphones and not 3Gs. That might change when the software is released.

The quickpwn software will work on all devices, iPod Touch, iPod Touch 2, iPhone first generation, and 3G iphone. Not sure if it will work on the 3Gs, the current information is that the 3Gs cannot jailbroken for now or unlocked. But as we all know, nothing is impossible.

PwnageTool 3.0 to Jailbreak iPhone 3G 3.0 On Mac OS X RELEASED BY DEVTEAM

Quickpwn has not been released but the PwnageTool 3.0 has, unfortunately this version is only for the macs. It will allow you to create a custom .ipsw file that you can then use to restore the iphone. Once it is restored it will be jailbroken  and the baseband will be unlocked.

The Pwnage tool will work on the following devices (Ipod Touch 2G, Ipod Touch 1st Generation, Iphone 1st Generation, and finally the Iphone 3G) This will not work on the iphone 3GS. Below is the download links to the PwnageTool 3.0 for mac.

WINDOWS USERS (JAILBREAK IPHONE 3.0 SOLUTION)

For all of you that are using windows and are waiting to Jailbreak your 3G iphone the wait is over. Since Quickpwn 3.0 has not been released, below is a link to a custom .ipsw 3.0 file that you can use to restore your iphone. Once it is restored with this version it will be jailbroken.

To restore using this file, simply follow the instructions below. Please keep in mind that this is for iphones that are connected with a carrier and not unlocked iphones. You will need to activate it. Once the Quickpwn 3.0 comes out then you can also unlock it.

1. Download the iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Custom_Restore.ipsw file and save it to your desktop

2. Connect your iphone to your computer and open itunes. Make sure you have the latest version 8.2 of itunes

3. While holding down the Shift Key on your keyboard, click the restore button in itunes, this will bring up a popup window

4. From the popup window look in your desktop for the iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Custom_Restore.ipsw file, click on it and choose open.

5. iTunes will now start the restore process, be patient since this process takes about 15 minutes or so.

6. Once it is completed it will boot up. Your iphone is now jailbroken.

After checking like a million times to see if the new version of the iphone was available to download, I’m happy to say that finally it is here. This version brings the much needed Cut Copy & Paste functions. It was released at 1:30pm JUNE 17th Eastern time.

To upgrade simply install the latest version of iTunes 8.2 and check for update. It will prompt you that the new version is available.

The new software brings some cool features like now you can finally sync your NOTES with outlook, something that many of use all the time and if you restored the phone in the past you had to be careful not to loose them. Also the new version brings Spotlight which will allow you to search for any file, document, email, and just about anything on the iphone.

The Cut, Copy & Paste is definitely a great reason to upgrade and I did notice the iphone is responding faster. With the new upgrade you will not get the Compass option nor will you be able to use the Camera to record video, those features are reserved for the new 3Gs iphone which will be released on June 19th.

Should you upgrade?:

Yes I think you should since it has some improvements that will make the overall experience much better. You can always downgrade the version if you see problems arise

For those of you that have a jailbroken iphone, I would recommend to wait until later on this week when a jailbreak option for version 3.0 will be available. I will post links as soon as I see it on the web. Also I’m working on a video to show you how to downgrade from version 3.0 to version 2.2.1. I will have it ready sometime tomorrow, so come back. Update, I have tried various ways to downgrade the version and unfortunately I cannot post one that actually works since all the ways I have been able to downgrade cannot be recreated in a consistent manner, sometimes they work and other times I get different errors. If you know of a way that works every time post here in the comments to help others.
