Windows 8 Download

windows8metro

Microsoft just unveiled what will be Windows 8. They have a new look based on Microsoft’s Metro Design. They claim that it will work better, faster start up time, and a clean GUI are among their features. To start this on the right foot they have put up the developer versions on the web free to download and no activation required. Check it out, I put the links below.

They have a 32bit and 64bit versions available. The download is in the form of an ISO and I tried using something like VMware to do a virtual install but it did not work with any of the versions. I had to burn the ISO on a DVD and do an install on a machine I had laying around. I highly recommend to install this on a secondary computer or a computer you don’t mind wiping out. Happy computing!.

Enable Airprint On Your Mac to use any printer

AirPrint-Wireless-Printing-iPad

Apple has just released iOS 4.2 and guess what. No Airprint FOR YOU!. At least not at the beginning. Apple’s airprint was cancelled on the MacOS, following the 10.6.5 update. Airprint right now only works on a handful of HP Printers. So unless you are ready to shell out about $200 for an HP Airprint compatible printer you will be out of luck or are you?.

There is an app named AirPrintHacktivator which will enable Airprint on your MacOS. Before running this app you will need to remove any printers you currently have installed on your mac. Then install them back once it is done, reboot your mac and now airprint will work with any printers you have shared on your mac.

Below is the complete information on this app. Happy Airprinting!. One more thing is that you need to have the latest update 10.6.5 for your mac as well as the latest iTunes 10.1, and iOS 4.2 installed for this to work correctly.

1. Remember to uninstall any of the printers you have installed then download AirprintHacktivator from Here.

2. Open the app which will have a button named “Hacktivate”. Click on it to get started.

3. Once the process is completed a pop up will let you know that the hacktivation was completed. At this point just click OK and then reboot your Mac

4. Now once your mac is backup go ahead and install your printers and click to share the printer on the network.

Now on your iPad or iPhone with iOS 4.2 try to print and you will see the printer you are sharing.

Multiple Displays on your Mac or PC using USB

evga_smallThe EVGA Device is great for adding multiple monitors quickly to any PC or Mac. This little device installs in minutes and it allows you to extend your display without having to add multiple video cards. One of the great things you can do with EVGA is you can buy up to 6 of these boxes and connect them to a hub for example, then attach monitors to all the boxes.

Once you have done that then you can grab the cable from the USB hub and connect it to your computer or mac and now you have extended your desktop to 6 screens. Pretty cool if you need multiple applications running on a bunch of screens. In the video below I will show you how to connect this on the PC and the Mac. Below are also links to download the software, where I bought the device and their homepage.
